about
Samantha Horwill releases the enchanting lead single from her forthcoming debut album.
‘Do you remember?’ is the first single to be taken from singer songwriter Samantha Horwill’s forthcoming debut album ‘Caught in the light’. This new collection of songs was recorded in the summer of 2012 at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studios and mixed by Mark Nevers at Beech House Recording (Lampchop). The result is an intense and honest journey into Samantha’s beliefs, built on authentic song writing craft.
The single tells the story of the solidarity of sibling relationships, built on the inevitable hard knocks of growing up together. Ultimately, despite all the troubles, together anything is possible and fate is no match for collective effort and love. Samantha’s warm and intimate vocals evoke the aching feeling of poring over a box of old photographs and cherishing the tough lessons of the past.
Promotion for the single is set to include the soon to be premiered music video, a gorgeously photographed short that combines the song’s story with performance footage of Samantha and her band. Targeted radio play and live dates will commence with the video premiere and ‘Caught in the Light’ launch event on 31st October in Brighton.
lyrics
Do you remember when we were young? We’d fight and I would play dead, hoping someone would find me there. I would get bored, pick myself up off the floor, stare into the oval mirror hanging on the hallway wall. My bare feet cold, my young heart already very old. Do you remember the day that I left? I packed up and I ran away, knowing you would do the same one day. I left you with a broken house that was once a home. We didn’t speak for months back then. I remember feeling so alone. Our story told of young hearts needing hands to hold. More steel than gold, our young hearts already very old. Breaking hearts, getting even, taking chances, getting beaten. Do you remember how much I love you? We might be breaking, but we fight and we soldier on. Spilling our tears, but we will be shining. Open up the front door, smell the summer rain on hot ground. A future sold on young hearts made of solid stone. This fate won’t hold a young heart already very old. Our story told of young hearts needing hands to hold. More steel than gold, our young hearts already very old.
